Acupuncture works on the vast network of electro-magnetic fields and pathways of the human body. Verified in recent years by modern scientific research, these electromagnetic energy pathways are used to restore systemic balance and support, aiding the body in its own healing process. Acupuncture is an extremely safe treatment strategy. Very thin needles are inserted at carefully selected points along the pathways to improve the body's connections. Some patients feel a tingling or heaviness from the location of the needles, while others feel nothing. Either way, this is not indicative of the treatment's effectiveness. The needles are typically left in place for about 30 minutes, although specific treatments may dictate a longer or shorter amount of time. Needles are sterile, disposable and used just once. After treatment, the needles are then discarded, eliminating any risk of infection. Acupuncture needles remain the traditional and the most routinely used tool. However new technologies that have emerged over the last fifty years offer a wide spectrum of modalities and non-invasive techniques.(Elektroacupuncture, electropuncture, laser acupuncture etc.)
